1) He, the greatest son of Bhaarat
was born in a village near Surat.
As a child, he took an oath
to tell nothing but the truth
and later liberated Bhaarat.
2) To study law, he went to London,
Capital city of the Great Britain,
where he read about Buddha,
Jesus, and the Gita
and returned as barrister from London.
3) Once when at a court in Durban,
he was ordered to remove his turban.
He refused and there started
the protest much awaited
which impressed men rural and urban.
4) He returned to his motherland
realised its sad state and
to meet people, he walked,
gathered them and talked
about ways to free their motherland.
5) Unlike other fighters from the past,
he decided to protest through a fast.
By not taking his food,
he sowed thoughts which were good
and nailed his colours to the mast
6) At sixty one, he walked miles to Dandi
addressing crowds all the way. And he
picked a handful of salt,
broke the law without assault
making it the famous march to Dandi.
7) Thus he fought with the British kingdom
to claim the most coveted freedom.
The nation's struggle broke through,
but it was torn into two
by riots destroying state's halidom.
8) On a fateful day in Delhi,
an armed man waited till he
found our Bapu hurrying;
shot him thrice burying
the noble soul of India in Delhi.
